 The sooty-capped babbler (Malacopteron affine) is a member of the family Pellorneidae. The sooty-capped babbler is also known in Malay as rimba tinjau belukar. Its main diet is small insects. It is threatened by habitat loss.

  Sooty-capped Babbler primarily feed on ants, beetles, and caterpillars, foraging at an average height of 6.5 meters. They glean from foliage, usually in small groups within shorter trees and tangled lianas. 
    Habitat 
  The sooty-capped Babbler occupies a range of forested environments, predominantly frequenting the edges and disturbed sections of primary broadleaf evergreen forests, such as those along rivers or trails. It thrives in secondary growth and at the fringe of forests, often in areas with Albizia trees or overgrown plantations of rubber and oil palm. This species adapts well to habitats altered by selective logging and is also associated with peat swamp forests.
