Description
The scaly-crowned babbler (Malacopteron cinereum) is a species of bird in the family Pellorneidae. It is found in Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest.

Scaly-crowned Babbler primarily consumes invertebrates such as beetles, locustids, ants, grubs, and spiders, complementing their diet with fruits. They forage actively and noisily in mid-level vegetation, occasionally going near the ground in search of food.
Habitat
The scaly-crowned Babbler typically inhabits primary evergreen broadleaf forests and areas of secondary growth. These birds are also found in coastal swamp-forests, upland heath forests known as kerangas, and selectively logged forests. They are generally associated with lowland forest terrains, including alluvial terraces and floodplains, and can occasionally be found in open coastal forests.
