Feeding Habits
Moustached Babbler's primary diet consists of insects such as black beetles and locustids, foraging in midstorey vegetation at 4-6 m high or even from the ground in less dense forests. Moustached Babbler typically gleans foliage, probes bark on vertical trunks, and can feed upside-down. Commonly seen in small groups, moustached Babbler may join mixed-species flocks during foraging.
Habitat
The moustached Babbler inhabits a range of forested environments, including primary broadleaf evergreen forests, peat swamp forests, and areas of forest regeneration. It also dwells in forests impacted by both heavy and selective logging. Beyond intact forest landscapes, moustached Babbler can be found in upland heaths, abandoned rubber plantations, and occasionally in areas dominated by Albizia trees.

Behavior
The moustached babbler feeds on insects, including on beetles and locusts. They feed in mid-story, from 4–6 m (13–20 ft) off the ground.
Distribution Area
The moustached babbler is found in Sundaland. The nominate race is found in southern Burma and Thailand through Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra, and the subspecies M. m. cinereocapilla is endemic to Borneo. Formerly, it could be found in the forests of Singapore, but it is now likely extinct there. Its natural habitat is tropical moist primary lowland forests, peatswamp forest, secondary forest, logged forests and old rubber plantations, from 915 m (3,002 ft), rarely to 1,200 m (3,900 ft). It is suggested that this species, since it prefers logged forest to primary forest, could be used as a habitat indicator.
