Description
The white-throated tyrannulet (Mecocerculus leucophrys) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Feeding Habits
White-throated Tyrannulet's diet consists mainly of insects, spiders, and occasionally small fruits. White-throated Tyrannulet forages alone or in pairs, sometimes joining mixed-species flocks in Polylepis woodland. It adopts an upright posture on perches, scanning for prey in vegetation, tail often vertical, and may exhibit tail-wagging behavior. Home range is around 3 hectares.
Habitat
The white-throated Tyrannulet inhabits a variety of montane and high-altitude forested environments, including humid upper montane forests, forest edges, stunted cloud forests, and elfin forests. These birds are also found in brushy ravines near tree-lines, shrubby clearings, pastures, and Polylepis woodlands within broader geographical regions that comprise tropical high-elevation forests.
