Description
The white-throated screech owl (Megascops albogularis) is an owl found in Andes in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. It is the largest species of the genus Megascops, at 26 centimetres (10 in) and 185 grams (6.5 oz). The white-throated screech owl was described by the American ornithologist John Cassin in 1849 and given the binomial name Syrnium albogularis.

Feeding Habits
White-throated Screech Owl primarily consumes insects and arthropods, occasionally adding small vertebrates to its diet. This nocturnal feeder hunts in the canopy using specialized techniques.
Habitat
The primary habitat of white-throated Screech Owl consists of humid montane evergreen forests and cloud forests, frequently populated with stunted alpine vegetation. These areas are often open forests with edges and semi-open landscapes featuring scattered trees, enriched by the presence of epiphytes and bamboo thickets. Glades or canopy gaps are sometimes part of these environments as well.
