Description
The yellow-browed melidectes (Melidectes rufocrissalis), also known as the yellow-browed honeyeater, is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae. It is found mainly in Papua New Guinea. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

29 cm
Feeding Habits
Yellow-browed Melidectes primarily eats insects, nectar, and fruit. Commonly found foraging in mid to upper levels of forests, especially in flowering or fruiting trees. Yellow-browed Melidectes tends to feed alone or in pairs, engaging in conspicuous chases in the treetops.
Habitat
Yellow-browed Melidectes typically inhabit lower and middle montane forests, edges, and areas of secondary growth, often venturing into gardens. They are particularly abundant in clumps of native-planted trees within grasslands and along streams that cut through these grasslands. Yellow-browed Melidectes seem to thrive in disturbed habitats, notably forest edges and timbered garden areas, as well as bush-fallow land. Their preference for these disturbed regions contributes to an increased rate of hybridization with closely related species amid habitat disturbance caused by human activities. That said, the general habitat of yellow-browed Melidectes is characterized by montane ecosystems that are either natural or have been modified by human intervention.
