Description
The bird is 12–14 cm long, with a long tail, olive green upper-parts, grayish head, face and throat; the under-parts are off-white. The eye, which is red in adults and brown in juveniles, is surrounded by an incomplete white eye-ring. Populations on higher ground tend to be larger and darker than those in lowlands.

Green-tailed Warbler primarily consumes insects, employing active foraging techniques. This species exhibits unique dietary preferences but has adaptable feeding behaviors to various environments.
Habitat
Green-tailed Warbler predominantly resides in montane broadleaf and pine forests, particularly areas with dense, undisturbed undergrowth. The nominate race of green-tailed Warbler is typically associated with these forested habitats. Another race, known as 'vasta', is adapted to living in semi-arid xeric scrubland found in the lowlands. Broadly, green-tailed Warbler can be found across a range of elevations, from sea level up to 2925 meters, showcasing the species' adaptability to varied montane and lowland environments.
