Description
The red-tailed minla (Minla ignotincta) is a passerine bird in the family Leiothrichidae. It is the only species in the genus Minla. It is found in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its range includes Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Feeding Habits
Red-tailed Minla primarily consumes insects and their larvae, supplementing with seeds. It forages methodically, often in groups, examining tree moss and lichens, and bending to inspect branch undersides. Red-tailed Minla may join mixed-species foraging flocks.
Habitat
The red-tailed Minla typically inhabits broadleaf evergreen forests, including mixed broadleaf-coniferous regions, with a preference for oak and rhododendron woodlands. At times, the species is also found in pine and deciduous forests, as well as areas dominated by Fokienia. This bird's habitat spans across the Indian Subcontinent and southeastern Asia, favoring mountainous and foothill forest ecosystems.
