Description
The torrent flyrobin (Monachella muelleriana) is a species of passerine bird in the Australasian robin family Petroicidae. It is also known as the torrent robin. It is placed in the monotypic genus Monachella. The species occurs in New Guinea and on the island of New Britain in the Bismarck Archipelago. As suggested by its name, the torrent flyrobin's preferred habitat is fast moving streams and rivers with protruding boulders.

Feeding Habits
Torrent Flyrobin's primary diet consists of insects, which are captured through aerial sallies from various perches or occasionally gleaned from surfaces. Unique adaptations include foraging over streams and in clearings, using different vantage points such as exposed rocks and overhanging branches.
Habitat
Torrent Flyrobin primarily inhabits the environments surrounding fast-moving open rivers and streams, where protruding boulders provide ample vegetation-free space. This bird species favors areas with readily available open spaces adjacent to the water, often seen in regions with natural clearings such as landslips. Although found mostly in hilly terrains, torrent Flyrobin can also be spotted in adjacent lowland areas.
