Description
The brown-streaked flycatcher (Muscicapa williamsoni) is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in southern Myanmar, southern Thailand, northern peninsular Malaysia, and northeast Borneo. Some authorities consider it to be a subspecies of the Asian brown flycatcher. In 2020, a possible vagrant was sighted 300 km (190 mi) south of the Australian town of Broome.
Feeding Habits
Brown-streaked Flycatcher primarily consumes small invertebrates such as beetles, stoneflies, bugs, wasps, and larvae, occasionally supplementing its diet with small fruits. Exhibiting a partially crepuscular behavior, brown-streaked Flycatcher forages solitarily or in pairs using perch-and-sally hunting techniques from various forest strata and often returns to the same perch.
Habitat
Brown-streaked Flycatcher is commonly found in open broadleaf evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, including forest clearings. During the non-breeding season, their habitat also encompasses parks, large wooded gardens, orchards, and areas with scrub vegetation, reflecting the species' adaptability to a variety of wooded environments.
