The rufous-throated solitaire (Myadestes genibarbis) is a species of bird placed in the family Turdidae. It is found on Dominica, Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti), Jamaica, Martinique, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. The bird is nicknamed the siffleur montagne (or mountain whistler) in Dominica; a local folk group of the early 1970s, the Siffleur Montagne Chorale, named themselves after it.

Feeding Habits
Rufous-throated Solitaire primarily consumes fruits and insects, foraging in the understory. Rufous-throated Solitaire exhibits unique adaptations for fruit eating but supplements its diet opportunistically with insects, indicating a flexible feeding strategy within its forest habitat.
Habitat
Rufous-throated Solitaire typically inhabits dense, moist montane forests, which may consist of purely broadleaf trees or a mix of broadleaf species and pines. This species can also be found in scattered groves along streams and is occasionally spotted in open upland meadows, where these birds benefit from the protection and resources offered by these ecosystems in broader geographical regions featuring mountainous terrains.
