Description
The short-crested flycatcher (Myiarchus ferox) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Short-crested Flycatcher predominantly consumes insects and fruits, like beetles, stink bugs, and Capsicum berries. With a diverse diet involving ants, bees, wasps, cicadas, and more, short-crested Flycatcher forages solo or in pairs from perches, adept at upward-striking and hover-gleaning to capture prey.
Habitat
The habitat of short-crested Flycatcher encompasses forest clearings, woodland edges, savanna-like cerrado, seasonally flooded várzea and igapó forests, riparian woodlands, and human-modified landscapes such as agricultural areas. Typically inhabiting regions in the tropical zone, short-crested Flycatcher is associated with primary successional vegetation near rivers, including monocultures of Tessaria and areas where Tessaria is intermixed with Gynerium sagittatum.
