Feeding Habits
Brown-capped Whitestart primarily consumes insects, including small spiders and larvae. They actively glean food at low to mid-heights, rarely using wing or tail flicking to disturb prey. They are also known to forage in single units or small groups, occasionally joining mixed-species flocks.
Habitat
Brown-capped Whitestart typically inhabits submontane and montane forests, including forest edges and clearings. These birds are found in environments that vary from dry deciduous forests to alder woodlands, and are known to occupy humid forests in certain areas. During the non-breeding season, brown-capped Whitestart adapts to an array of different woodlands, including those dominated by species such as ash (Fraxinus), pine (Pinus), privet (Ligustrum lucidum), cypress (Cupressus), and eucalyptus.
