Description
The yellow-crowned whitestart (Myioborus flavivertex), Santa Marta whitestart or yellow-crowned redstart, is a species of bird in the family Parulidae. It is endemic to the highland forest and woodland in the Santa Marta Mountains in Colombia.

Feeding Habits
Yellow-crowned Whitestart primarily consumes insects and various arthropods. It typically forages from the middle to the canopy, gleaning and sometimes flycatching. Yellow-crowned Whitestart is characterized by unique tail movements and wing posturing during feeding, and it often forages in mixed-species groups.
Habitat
The yellow-crowned Whitestart typically inhabits humid montane and cloud forests, as well as adjacent forest edges. These environments are characterized by high humidity and dense vegetation, providing ample opportunities for foraging and nesting. The species is also found within overlapping regions with M. miniatus, though it predominates at higher altitudes within these shared habitats.
