Description
The black-crested warbler (Myiothlypis nigrocristata) is a species of bird in the family Parulidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Black-crested Warbler primarily consumes invertebrates, gleaning them from undergrowth and sometimes higher understorey branches. Black-crested Warbler may forage solo or in mixed-species flocks outside of breeding season.
Habitat
The black-crested Warbler predominantly resides in montane forest and cloud forest peripheries and clearings, favoring areas with dense, shrubby understories. It has an affinity for places abundant in bamboo, especially Chusquea, as well as bracken ferns. Black-crested Warbler tends to avoid the dense interiors of forests, showing a preference for edge habitats and well-developed secondary growth areas.
