Description
The stripe-backed antbird (Myrmorchilus strigilatus) is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is monotypic within the genus Myrmorchilus. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay, where its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. The genus Myrmorchilus was erected by the American ornithologist Robert Ridgway in 1909.

Feeding Habits
Stripe-backed Antbird primarily consumes insects and possibly other arthropods. Foraging on the ground or climbing vegetation up to 2 meters, stripe-backed Antbird searches leaf litter and bromeliads, using its bill and feet to uncover prey. Occasionally, it gleans prey from foliage by jumping and reaching.
Habitat
The stripe-backed Antbird predominantly occupies the ground and understory layer of deciduous Chaco and caatinga woodlands, as well as scrublands. Its preferred habitat features an overhead canopy formed by the interlacing branches of trees and shrubs that exceeds 2 meters in height, alongside a rich underbrush comprising terrestrial bromeliads.
