Size
9 cm
Feeding Habits
Salvadori's Antwren feed primarily on insects and possibly spiders. They forage alone or in mixed-species flocks, utilizing leafy crowns and understorey trees, particularly favoring large leaves for gleaning prey. Salvadori's Antwren exhibit quick movements with distinctive wing and tail flicks, and employ various techniques including perch-gleaning, hanging, and short sallies to capture prey from foliage or dead leaves, occasionally probing mossy surfaces.
Habitat
Salvadori's Antwren is found predominantly in the understory and mid-story of evergreen forests and mature secondary woodlands in lowland and foothill regions. Its preferred environment consists of shaded forest interiors, often characterized by trees cloaked in moss, a profusion of epiphytes, and the typical presence of nearby streams or running water. Salvadori's Antwren is also observed in second-growth woodlands, but those are typically mature, shaded, and interconnected with vast expanses of primary forest.
