Feeding Habits
Buff-bellied Monarch chiefly consumes insects, foraging actively yet calmly alone or in groups within lower to mid-level forest strata. It hops between branches and undertakes brief flights, occasionally ascending higher. Uniquely, buff-bellied Monarch perches horizontally, not vertically, to glean prey from foliage or execute quick sorties.
Habitat
The buff-bellied Monarch primarily inhabits primary forests and areas of secondary growth. It is found in various small wooded environments ranging from lush village gardens to overgrown plantations and dense, humid scrublands. This bird is typically associated with regions characterized by rich vegetation, which provide ample opportunities for foraging and nesting.
