Habitat
The banded Ground Cuckoo inhabits humid primary forests in the Western Cordillera of the Andes, predominantly within wet tropical and very wet premontane areas. These regions are characterized by heavy rainfall and maintain average temperatures between 24 and 26°C, offering a suitable environment for the species. The banded Ground Cuckoo is adapted to the forest undergrowth of these ecosystems, avoiding higher altitudes and preferring the consistently moist conditions of the lower forested regions.
