Feeding Habits
Rufous-bellied Niltava primarily consumes insects, such as ants and beetles, and occasionally eats fruit. They catch prey by darting from perches or foraging on the ground, often feeding alone or in pairs, and sometimes joining mixed flocks. Winter feeding is more solitary.
Habitat
The rufous-bellied Niltava predominantly inhabits the understory and shrub layers within broadleaf evergreen forests and areas where coniferous and deciduous trees intermix. It is also found in secondary and heavily degraded forests, adapting well to localized environmental conditions. These habitats are typically associated with subtropical and temperate forest zones across broader geographical regions of the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, reflecting the rufous-bellied Niltava's preference for forested landscapes.
