The Andaman hawk-owl or Andaman boobook (Ninox affinis) is a species of owl in the family Strigidae. It is endemic to the Andaman Islands. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical mangrove forest. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.

Feeding Habits
Andaman Boobook's diet is mainly insectivorous, notably catching moths and beetles mid-flight. Its feeding behavior includes airborne hawking, and it exhibits a shyer disposition when perched compared to its counterpart, Ninox obscura.
Habitat
The andaman Boobook typically resides in lowland forested regions, encompassing both primary forests, which are old-growth ecosystems with minimal human impact, and secondary forests that have regenerated after significant disturbance. These birds are most commonly associated with dense, wooded environments that provide ample foraging opportunities and nesting sites within the broader geographical setting of tropical regions.
