Size
30 cm
Feeding Habits
Curve-billed Tinamou predominantly consumes seeds, fruits, berries, and invertebrates. This species forages on the ground, often using its curved bill to dig. It has adapted to a varied diet and exhibits a preference for certain seeds and fruits during different seasons.
Habitat
The curve-billed Tinamou primarily inhabits high-altitude grasslands, known as puna and páramo ecosystems, typically found at elevations ranging from 2,800 to 3,900 meters. These environments are characterized by bunch-grasses and sandy plateaux, as well as evergreen shrubs and scrublands dominated by families like Ericaceae, Hypericum, and Compositae. The curve-billed Tinamou's range extends across regions with both humid and semi-arid conditions, and it may occasionally be found in areas affected by slash-and-burn agriculture.

General Info
Behavior
Like other tinamous, the curve-billed tinamou eats fruit off the ground or low-lying bushes. They also eat small amounts of invertebrates, flower buds, tender leaves, seeds, and roots. The male incubates the eggs which may come from as many as 4 different females, and then will raise them until they are ready to be on their own, usually 2–3 weeks. The nest is located on the ground in dense brush or between raised root buttresses.
Species Status
The IUCN list this species as Least Concern, with an occurrence range of 30,000 km (12,000 sq mi).
