Habitat
The blackish Nightjar primarily inhabits open rocky areas within lowland evergreen forests, often near small rivers with sandy or gravelly banks. It typically roosts on sunlit granite rocks in riverine environments, fallen trees, or amidst leaf litter in areas surrounded by dense jungle. While they show a preference for open terrains of secondary growth forests, they can also be found in patches of old growth forests in the Neotropical region.
