Description
The slaty-backed chat-tyrant (Ochthoeca cinnamomeiventris) is a species of bird in the tyrant flycatcher family. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest. The slaty-backed chat-tyrant was formerly treated as conspecific with the blackish chat-tyrant (Ochthoeca nigrita).

Feeding Habits
Slaty-backed Chat-tyrant forages solitary or in pairs, frequently making aerial sallies from low perches to catch prey, and often returns to the same perch. It has a distinct preference for dark, cloudforest understories, and its diet typically includes insects gleaned during short-distance flights. Rarely joins mixed-species flocks, preferring well-spaced territories.
Habitat
