14 cm
Feeding Habits
Rufous-breasted Chat-tyrant predominantly consumes insects, often foraging alone or in pairs, and may join mixed flocks. Characterized by territorial behavior, rufous-breasted Chat-tyrant perches visibly, sallying into the air or adroitly hover-gleaning prey from leaves, favoring the upper surfaces in particular.
Habitat
Rufous-breasted Chat-tyrant typically inhabits the peripheries of open cloudforest and moist montane environments. It favors the Polylepis woodlands, often seen along roadsides within these forests. The species is also found in areas with stunted vegetation and shrubby inclines close to the upper forest border, as well as in riparian thickets within semi-arid regions.
