Habitat
The striped Sparrow is predominantly found in montane grasslands and meadows, which include wet meadows with tall bunchgrasses and scattered shrubs within major biogeographic provinces such as the Sierra Madre Occidental and Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. These grasslands are typically associated with various types of surrounding forests composed of alder, pine, fir, cypress, juniper, oak, and eucalypt. Additionally, the striped Sparrow can also inhabit disturbed habitats like agricultural lands and induced grassland areas used for grazing, indicating some adaptability to human-altered landscapes.
