Description
The Andean swallow (Haplochelidon andecola) is a species of bird in the family Hirundinidae. It is monotypic within the genus Haplochelidon. It is found in the Altiplano of Peru, Bolivia and far northern Chile and Argentina. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.

The andean Swallow, commonly found in open highland habitats, frequents areas characterized by puna grasslands, desert puna, and tola heaths. This species adapts well to human-altered environments, often being spotted around towns and buildings. Furthermore, andean Swallow exhibits a preference for foraging over bodies of water.
