Description
The chestnut-winged chachalaca (Ortalis garrula) is a species of bird in the family Cracidae. It is found only in Colombia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and heavily degraded former forest.

The chestnut-winged Chachalaca dwells predominantly in dense tropical thickets, deciduous forests with scrubby vegetation, tall secondary growth areas, arid scrubs, and riparian woodlands. It is commonly found along mangrove swamps in the northern coastal plains. This species tends to avoid densely forested regions, favoring instead the borders of humid forests at the base of the Andean slopes.
