Description
The little chachalaca (Ortalis motmot) is a bird in the family Cracidae that is found in the northern part of South America. It grows to about 38 cm (15 inches) in length and weighs 380 to 620 g (13 to 22 oz). This bird lives mostly in trees. It is found in northern Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana and Venezuela. It may also be found in the far eastern regions of Colombia.

Feeding Habits
Little Chachalaca's diet primarily consists of berries and fruits, including Cecropia. Occasionally, little Chachalaca also consumes flowers like Roupala complicata and Carica papaya leaves. Foraging typically occurs in pairs or small flocks, either arboreally or terrestrially.
Habitat
The habitat of little Chachalaca typically includes riverine forests with lush understory, coastal scrubs, and dense secondary growth areas such as old fields and regions affected by human activity. Preferring habitats away from deep forests, little Chachalaca is found in environments where forest meets savanna and around areas with human settlements, favoring places with tangled vegetation that offer shelter and food resources.
