Description
Description
The glossy-backed becard (Pachyramphus surinamus) is a species of bird in the family Tityridae. It has traditionally been placed in Cotingidae or Tyrannidae, but evidence strongly suggests that it is better placed in Tityridae, where it is now placed by the South American Classification Committee. It is found in Brazil, French Guiana, and Suriname. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Feeding Habits
Glossy-backed Becard primarily feed on insects and some fruits. They forage deliberately in pairs, peering into foliage or along branches, and hover-glean prey. Their territories are thought to be large, over 100 hectares, and they may travel far to preferred trees.
Habitat
The glossy-backed Becard typically inhabits the high canopy of emergent trees and the subcanopy in tall, humid forest environments. They are also found along forest borders, adjacent clearings, and within savanna forests. The bird prefers regions characterized by a dense tree presence and areas of significant forest cover.
