The black-capped babbler (Pellorneum capistratum) is a species of bird in the family Pellorneidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest.

Black-capped Babbler's diet mainly consists of insects, spiders, worms, and snails. It forages alone or in pairs on the ground, running through leaf litter and occasionally making short flights, but seldom ventures far above ground.
Habitat
The black-capped Babbler is typically found in the floor and understory of various forest types, including primary broadleaf evergreen, logged, and secondary forests. It thrives in habitats rich with dense undergrowth like peatswamp, thickets, overgrown scrub, and mangroves. Its presence is also notable in diverse landscapes such as upland kerangas, bamboo and palm thickets, canebrakes, and areas with overgrown rubber and Albizia plantations, extending to sandy soil scrubs and forests near beaches and mangroves.
