Feeding Habits
Band-tailed Guan primarily eats pulpy fruits like laurel and guarumo, regurgitates hard seeds, and occasionally consumes fallen ground fruits. Feeds in tree midstorey, drinks from bromeliads and heliconias, and typically forages in small groups.
Habitat
Band-tailed Guan generally dwells within dense forests situated in subtropical and upper tropical zones. The species exhibits a preference for humid, untouched forest ecosystems but occasionally adapts to inhabit secondary growth forests, shade-coffee plantations, and the upper fringes of more arid forests. Typically residing in rugged, mountainous landscapes, band-tailed Guan shows an affinity for exceedingly moist regions and is consequently more prevalent on the northern, seaward slopes of mountain ranges.
