Description
The bearded guan (Penelope barbata) is a species of bird in the family Cracidae, the chachalacas, guans, and curassows. It is found in Ecuador and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Habitat
Bearded Guan is typically found in montane cloud forests, both humid and dry, situated in temperate and upper subtropical zones along the western slopes of the Andes. This species inhabits a range of elevations from 1200 to 3100 meters but is especially prevalent above 2700 meters in certain regions. Bearded Guan is also known to occupy small, relictual forest patches within their broader montane range.
