Description
The bird measures an average of 73 centimeters in length and weighs an average of 1.2 kilograms, being very similar in appearance to its smaller relative, the rusty-margined guan (P. supercilliaris).

Dusky-legged Guan primarily consumes fruit, flowers, and buds, foraging both on the ground and in trees. Known as a seed disperser, dusky-legged Guan is crucial for the propagation of numerous tree species, including those that are endangered.
Habitat
The dusky-legged Guan thrives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland and montane forests, often found up to elevations of 2300 meters. Although primarily living in dense, wet forests, the species occasionally inhabits secondary growth on river islands, mature plantations in grassland areas, and woodland patches. The dusky-legged Guan is typically absent from extremely dry regions, favoring forest floor habitats within tropical and upper tropical zones.
