Description
 The white-bearded hermit (Phaethornis hispidus) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical swampland.

  White-bearded Hermit primarily consumes nectar and small arthropods, utilizing trap-lining—a method of visiting flowers in a set route for feeding. Its diet showcases a specialized foraging behavior for efficiency. 
    Habitat 
  The habitat of white-bearded Hermit predominantly includes humid lowland forests, particularly in areas prone to regular inundation such as along riversides, várzea, and transitional forests. Additionally, white-bearded Hermit are found in secondary growths, Heliconia and bamboo thickets, swamp forests, and even in some plantations. Beyond the lowland regions, white-bearded Hermit adapts to wetter zones including gallery forests in campo cerrado and llanos environments, as well as in semi-deciduous forests.
