Description
The maroon-breasted philentoma (Philentoma velata) is a bird species. They are now usually assigned to the Vangidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical swamps. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Feeding Habits
Maroon-breasted Philentoma consumes a variety of invertebrates. Maroon-breasted Philentoma forages in pairs or groups, using stealth and patience in the middle to upper canopy. Maroon-breasted Philentoma exhibits a unique hunting style, often remaining still before striking prey and occasionally capturing insects mid-flight with a fluttering wing technique.
Habitat
The maroon-breasted Philentoma primarily resides in broadleaf evergreen forests, both at lowland and lower montane elevations. It is also found in secondary forests, mixed dipterocarp forests, transitional forests, and established Albizia plantations. Its habitat preference ranges across subtropical and tropical moist environments within broader geographical regions where these forest types are prevalent.
