Description
The terrestrial brownbul (Phyllastrephus terrestris) is a species of songbird in the bulbul family, Pycnonotidae. It is found in eastern and south-eastern Africa. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland.

Feeding Habits
Terrestrial Brownbul predominantly eats arthropods, including ants, grasshoppers, beetles, and termites, but also consumes gastropods, small lizards, and some fruits and seeds. Renowned for scurrying in leaf litter and probing debris, they exhibit unique cooperation by gleaning parasites from duikers. Commonly seen at ground level, they display distinctive wing flicks and tail-pumping behaviors.
Habitat
The terrestrial Brownbul inhabits a variety of dense vegetation areas, predominantly consisting of evergreen forests, both lowland and coastal. It is also found in riparian and riverine regions, as well as in dense woodlands, thick scrub, thicket environments, and areas of abandoned cultivation. These habitats are typically characterized by a profusion of undergrowth and foliage offering shelter and foraging opportunities.
