Description
The sooty-headed tyrannulet (Phyllomyias griseiceps) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Sooty-headed Tyrannulet primarily feed on insects, complementing their diet with small fruits and berries. Their foraging involves active search through foliage, adeptly snatching prey. They exhibit no unique dietary adaptations, sharing similar feeding preferences with related Tyrannulet species.
Habitat
The sooty-headed Tyrannulet thrives in humid tropical and upper tropical regions, favoring the peripheries of evergreen forests, such as borders, clearings, and areas with scattered trees. Adaptable to altered landscapes, it occupies dry white-sand forests, plantations, and woodlots, avoiding dense primary forest interiors. It predominantly resides below 1200 meters, but can be found up to 1800 meters in certain areas, and as low as 460 meters in lowland regions within its geographical range.
