Feeding Habits
Tawny-rumped Tyrannulet primarily consumes insects and occasionally small fruits. It forages actively, often in pairs or with mixed-species flocks, predominantly within the canopy or dense shrubs. Displaying perch-gleaning and short upward hover-gleaning behaviors while feeding, tawny-rumped Tyrannulet resembles a parulidae warbler in its feeding manner.
Habitat
The tawny-rumped Tyrannulet primarily inhabits upper montane humid forests characterized by dense thickets, clearings' edges, tree-line shrubbery, and brushy washes. This bird species is also frequently associated with stunted elfin forests and areas where Chusquea bamboo is prevalent. Its preferred habitat spans across multiple regions in South America, typically favoring forested environments.
