Description
Tickell's leaf warbler (Phylloscopus affinis) is a leaf warbler found in Asia in the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Thailand. The species has a yellowish underside and super-cilium. Like other leaf warblers it feeds mostly on insects by gleaning and short sallies. An active bird, it prefers the canopy and low shrubbery and can be difficult to track as it moves actively from branch to branch, acrobatically exploring the underside of leaves and twigs. The clear yellowish undersides and lack of a wing bar can be used to tell it apart from similar species. It has slim dark legs with largely pale lower mandible and grayish wing panel. The name commemorates the British ornithologist Samuel Tickell who collected in India and Myanmar.

Feeding Habits
Tickell's Leaf Warbler primarily feeds on small insects such as weevils, beetles, aphids, flies, midges, and larvae. Often found foraging alone or in pairs, occasionally joining mixed-species flocks in winter. They forage low in vegetation and on the ground, exhibiting agile and acrobatic behavior, including hanging upside-down on leaves and making dashing flights for prey.
Habitat
The habitat of tickell's Leaf Warbler primarily includes dry barren mountain areas with rocky landscapes and low bushes. These birds are found in environments with vegetation like alpine and subalpine willows, dwarf juniper, dwarf bamboo, Berberis scrub, and rhododendrons. They generally inhabit regions at the edges of forests and cultivation areas. During the non-breeding season, tickell's Leaf Warbler moves to lower altitudes, favoring forest edges which may include secondary forests, acacia trees, and clearings amid cultivation.
