Description
The lemon-rumped warbler or pale-rumped warbler (Phylloscopus chloronotus) is a species of Old World warbler in the family Phylloscopidae. It is found from the western Himalayas to central China.
Size
10 cm
Feeding Habits
Lemon-rumped Warbler primarily consumes insects and larvae, foraging solo or in small groups, and joins mixed-species flocks in the non-breeding season. Lemon-rumped Warbler feeds throughout the forest strata, frequently hovering and flycatching, a technique more common than in its congeners.
Habitat
The lemon-rumped Warbler establishes its breeding grounds predominantly in coniferous forests, which include a mix of spruce-fir, occasional broadleaf deciduous trees, and rhododendrons. It is also found in mixed conifer/broadleaf and pine forests, with a preference for regions that feature oak forests at lower densities. During the non-breeding season, this species descends to lower altitudes, occupying broadleaf deciduous forests.
