Description
The white-tipped plantcutter (Phytotoma rutila) is a species of bird in the family Cotingidae. As the other plantcutters, this species is sexually dimorphic and folivorous. It is found widely in woodland and scrub of south-eastern and south-central South America. It is mainly found in lowlands east of the Andes, but ranges well into the highlands in Bolivia.

Feeding Habits
White-tipped Plantcutter primarily consumes leaves (90%), with some fruits and flowers. It typically forages in pairs or groups, 3-4 meters up in foliage or occasionally on the ground, with a preference for buds, shoots, and seeds from a variety of plants.
Habitat
The habitat of white-tipped Plantcutter encompasses Chaco woodland, open woodlands with dense undergrowth, and riparian thickets. These birds are also found in pampas, arid lowland and montane scrub, and semi-open groves with species like acacia and other thorny bushes. Additionally, white-tipped Plantcutter inhabits human-altered landscapes such as gardens, orchards, and agricultural land in semi-arid regions.
