The rufous-winged woodpecker (Piculus simplex) is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found in Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Habitat

Their range extends across lowland terrains and ascends into the foothills, typically reaching up to 750 meters above sea level on the Caribbean slope and 900 meters on the Pacific slope of their geographical habitat.
