Greyish Piculet likely mirrors P. olivaceus in diet, consuming insects and foraging similarly, but specific habits and adaptations remain undocumented.
Habitat
Greyish Piculet thrives in a variety of forested environments ranging from tropical dry forest to subtropical moist forests. They are also known to inhabit shade coffee plantations and areas of heavily degraded former forests. Preferring habitat edges, these birds can be found in secondary growth, scrub, and woodland areas. They typically reside at elevations between 800 to 2100 meters, though in the northern extent of their range, they may occupy areas as low as 600 meters, often in the western Andean regions.

Distribution Area
Mostly found in the Cauca River Valley. The northernmost limited extends into southern Antioquia and reaches south to Nariño in the Patía River Valley. The center of the population is around the city of Cali in Valle del Cauca.
