Description
A medium-sized, green woodpecker with streaked throat and scaly whitish underparts. Green above with yellowish rump, white supercilia and white and black moustache. Crown red in male, blackish in female. Tail dark and plain. Small, dark bill.

Feeding Habits
Streak-throated Woodpecker's diet consists primarily of ants, termites, and small insect larvae. Additionally, it consumes flower nectar and seeds. Streak-throated Woodpecker forages mainly alone, often on the ground and may climb over boulders in search of food.
Habitat
The habitat of streak-throated Woodpecker predominantly includes open deciduous forests and dry dipterocarp forests. They are also commonly found in semi-evergreen, Shorea-dominated forests, mixed bamboo forests, and areas with secondary growth. These birds inhabit sparsely wooded parklands, teak and rubber plantations, as well as tea estates, while they tend to avoid dense forests. Their presence is noted mainly in lowland regions and the lower hills.
