Description
The plumage of the pileated parrot is overall green with bluish flight feathers, a faint brownish-maroon auricular patch (lacking in juveniles) and, in the male, a bright red forehead that extends down to just below the eyes.

Pileated Parrot primarily feeds on various fruits, including those of Podocarpus and 'cambuí,' as well as seeds from Solanum mauricianum. It also consumes Eucalyptus bark and fruits from Livistona chinensis, Philodendron bipinnatifidum, and Eremanthus sp.
Habitat
The pileated Parrot is typically found in humid foothill forests, which extend into regions dominated by Araucaria trees and encompass lowland areas. Its habitat also includes regions that have been partially cleared, demonstrating a degree of adaptability to modified landscapes within its broader tropical forest ecosystem.
