Feeding Habits
Bronze-winged Parrot primarily consumes fruits like those from Guazuma ulmifolia and bananas, alongside small seeds. Often spotted foraging in fruiting Ficus, bronze-winged Parrot has adaptations for a fruit-based diet with occasional seeds.
Habitat
Bronze-winged Parrot primarily inhabits humid and semi-deciduous forests and woodlands, favoring the canopy layer. It thrives in foothill and highland cloud forests, as well as areas with scattered trees such as partially cleared regions or the borders of forests. The species has a preference for elevations ranging from 900 to 2400 meters, although it can be found as low as 120 meters and as high as 2800 meters in certain regions. It also adapts to drier deciduous woodlands, particularly in the southern part of its range. The bird's nomadic tendencies seem influenced by food availability, leading to somewhat migratory movements within its habitat zones across broad geographical regions of northwestern South America.
