Description
The ivory-breasted pitta (Pitta maxima) is a species of bird in the family Pittidae. It is endemic to North Maluku in Indonesia, known as Paok halmahera. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Habitat
The ivory-breasted Pitta inhabits a variety of forest environments, from primary and selectively logged forests to cultivated areas, although it is less frequently found in heavily logged forests, coconut plantations, and well-vegetated gardens. It prefers regions with an underlying limestone base, showing higher density in such areas, as well as favoring microhabitats with open, leaf-covered forest floors, particularly on ridgetops. Mangroves are not within its habitat range.
