Description
The golden-crowned spadebill (Platyrinchus coronatus) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Feeding Habits
Golden-crowned Spadebill primarily feeds on beetles, caterpillars, small grasshoppers, spiders, and various small arthropods, showcasing its insectivorous diet. Habitat
Golden-crowned Spadebill typically inhabits the dark understory of humid forests, which may include both terra firme and várzea types. They are also found in adjacent areas of tall second-growth vegetation. Their habitat extends from lowland regions to foothills, primarily occupying elevations below 500 meters. However, golden-crowned Spadebill has been recorded at higher elevations, such as up to 700 meters on the Caribbean slope and 1200 meters on the Pacific slope of Costa Rica, 1500 meters in Venezuela, and 1650 meters in central Ecuador.
