 The Puna ibis (Plegadis ridgwayi) is a species of bird in the family Threskiornithidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. Its natural habitats are swamps, marshes and lakes, and most of its range is in the Andean highlands, including the puna, but locally it occurs down to sea level. It has been domesticated by the Uru people for meat and eggs.

  Puna Ibis mostly consume arthropods and invertebrates, foraging in flocks by probing into mud in wetlands. They showcase unique flock-feeding behaviors. 
    Habitat 
  The puna Ibis primarily thrives in swampy areas, including rushy pasturelands, mudflats, ponds, and streams. This species is also known to inhabit coarse bunch grass terrains on hills, occasionally found at considerable distances from water sources. It favors high-altitude wetland ecosystems within broader geographical regions that encompass such diverse habitats.
